Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. Her albums span over 20 years. The music of DiFranco is classified as folk and alternative rock but she also draws influences of hip-hop and jazz. Ani DiFranco was the very first artist to establish her own record company in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco was born on 23rd September 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father had Italian ancestry and her mom was a Montreal native. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the track 32 Flavors. The song is from her album Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth studio album. It was also featured on the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologised in 2013 when it was announced that she would be hosting a three day workshop at the Louisiana plantation for slaves. It was postponed However, some (including the newspaper) didn't see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco released an apology a couple of weeks later. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger songs, however she's collaborated with many different genres and artists including Pete Seeger to Chuck D. Her home is New Orleans. Ani DiFranco lives with Kristen Ford. At the age of 14, she began creating her own music. She performed them at bars and in coffee shops all through her teenage years.
